Dhanush’s 51st flick, ‘Kuberaa,’ appears to be off to a good start. The early review praises the performances, gripping story, and world-class visuals. Sekhar Kammula is directing and co-writing the film.
Dhanush’s transformation fascinates in a gritty power-play.
According to an early review by the actor-critic Kuldeep Gadhvi after a censor screening, Kuberaa gets a respectable 4.5-star rating out of five. “Visually rich, emotionally layered, and phenomenally directed,” says the reviewer, terming Dhanush’s performance as that of a man’s rise from poverty to power game-changer as “phenomenal.” Nagarjuna plays a sly chartered accountant hiding black money, while Rashmika brings some emotional conflict and strategic complication to her character.

Stylish, slow-burn thriller with a global visual aesthetic.
One of the high points is the impressive performance of the cinematographer and editor in creating a styled and layered visual tone. The review quotes, “Somehow the editing is smartly designed creating a perfect balance between pace, tension and emotion. The second half feels like a rollercoaster… Music N composition is good.. Dialogues, screenplay, writing strong N impactful.” Jim Sarbh is remembered as a mysterious and powerful antagonist possibly with some international political connections, while Dalip Tahil is an old man deeply entrenched in this web of corruption. The writing, dialogues, and screenplay have been impressed with depth and intensity.
‘Kuberaa’ could become a dividing factor when it comes to pacing for some but, all-in-all, is impressive.

Further, “Overall Kuberaa is a slow-burn, cerebral crime thriller that holds your attention most of its 3 hour run. If you appreciate intense performances, visual drama, and layered writing — it will keep you on the hook. But for those craving fast action and masala-style pacing, it might feel a tad lengthy…”
In summary, judging by the earliest review, this Dhanush vehicle remains an impressive one for Sekhar Kammula. The crime drama has assembled quite a formidable star cast in Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil.
