India’s regional satellite navigation system, NavIC, will be incorporated in the terminals of satellite communication companies. Under this scheme, companies will have to make full use of NavIC by 2029.

Companies will have to track user activities in special surveillance areas designated for national security, especially near border areas.

Companies will have to cooperate with Indian security agencies and law enforcement agencies. They will have to provide information on user activities in real time.

The Indian government wants to ensure that the data of Indian users is not connected to foreign servers or networks. Companies have to ensure that the data remains within the Indian border.
7️⃣ Provision of security clearance
Companies will have to obtain security clearance before starting their services in India. Along with this, they will need separate security clearances for voice and data services.

Under special surveillance areas, companies will have to provide real-time information of the location and activities of user terminals to security agencies.
9️⃣ Construction of Indian data centers
Companies will have to set up their data centers in Indian territory. All data will be processed and stored in these data centers.

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) is working on guidelines for spectrum allocation for satellite communication companies, so that companies can start their services in India more effectively.
