Bangladesh’s start was a bit slow and shaky. Anamul Haque was sent to the pavilion early by fast bowler Asitha Fernando. After this, debutant Thirindu Ratnayake got Sri Lanka back in the match at one point by getting Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque caught out in the slip on two consecutive balls.
However, what happened after this was disappointing for the Sri Lankan bowlers and encouraging for Bangladesh.

Pitch condition
On the first day of the match, the pitch was easy for batting. The moisture that was there in the morning disappeared after lunch, which did not help the spin bowlers.
Bowlers’ efforts were in vain

Rain of fours and sixes

Spinners’ failure
The three spin bowlers together could bowl only one maiden over. It is clear from this that the bowlers could not create pressure for Sri Lanka.
Tharindu’s two successes
Though Tharindu took two wickets – Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque were dismissed on consecutive balls. Both these balls showed excellent turn and bounce.
Challenge in front of Sri Lanka
If Sri Lanka has to make a comeback in the match, then they will have to work on their bowling strategy. Especially Tharindu needs to be controlled and Milan needs to be supported from the other end.
